The egress system:
The egress system is the emergency system capable of saving the crew and passengers. Throughout history it has saved thousands of lives by ejection seats and escape ramps. On a commercial airline the egress system is the ramps, flotation devices, and side exits. On a military fighter the egress system is the ejection seat and the canopy. The modern ejection seat used in most planes is the ACES II seat. it has 0-0 capability allowing somebody to launch from the ground and land safely. On the ACES II seat there is an ejection lever on both sides of the seat. Lifting one lever will also lift the other at the same time, causing an ejection. The time of an ejection is around four seconds but is affected by weight of the crew member. The seat sits on a set of rails to guide it when it first launches. The most common way of propulsion to get the crew member away from the aircraft is a rocket. And finally after the crew member is away from the aircraft a parachute will deploy from a mortar tube to slow down the descent.
